NoServer Questions and Answers / Unity with FatFractal

Is anyone using Unity for game development?

If you have the source checked out, then you should be fine to modify the application.ffdl from there and changes will propagate fine.

Hi Edgar:

All you need to do is edit the application.ffdl file and then redeploy the app using the command line tools. If you have not installed them,  see here for more info...

http://fatfractal.com/v2/documentation/#document-noserver-local-development-installation

as well as the pages that follow.

The application.ffdl file is in the ff-config directory that is created during application scaffolding.

NoServer Questions and Answers / Re: query a string array
« on: April 10, 2014, 02:35:49 PM »
Cool!

Glad that worked - I am curious if you have considered adding Company and Department collections so that you can manage those as separate entities. You could then use our REFERENCE and GRABBAG members for your queries...

For example, you could have:

Department with REFERENCE company /Company
Employee with REFERENCE company /Company
Department with GRABBAG employees /Employee

CREATE OBJECTTYPE Company (name STRING) #...
CREATE OBJECTTYPE Employee (name STRING, company REFERENCE /Company) #...
CREATE OBJECTTYPE Department (name STRING, company REFERENCE /Company, employees GRABBAG /Employee) #...

And, even have some fun with aliases
CREATE ALIAS ON OBJECTTYPE Company GRABBAG BackReferences.Employee.company AS employees
CREATE ALIAS ON OBJECTTYPE Company GRABBAG BackReferences.Department.company AS departments
CREATE ALIAS ON OBJECTTYPE Employee GRABBAG BackReferences.Department.employees AS departments

Then, your query would be like:
Company:
ff.getArrayFromUri("/Company/some_company_guid")...
Department named "HR" for Company with guid some_company_guid
ff.getArrayFromUri("/Company/some_company_guid/departments/(name eq' HR')")...
Employees that are employees of the Department named "HR" for Company with guid some_company_guid
ff.getArrayFromUri("/Company/some_company_guid/departments/(name eq' HR')/employees")...

Note: start with Company, walk to Department, end up returning Employee list. Kinda cool, huh?

A few other examples of what you can do with aliases

All employees of Company with guid some_company_guid:
ff.getArrayFromUri("/Company/some_company_guid/employees")...

All departments of Company with guid some_company_guid:
ff.getArrayFromUri("/Company/some_company_guid/departments")...

All departments of Employee with guid some_employee_guid:
ff.getArrayFromUri("/Employee/some_employee_guid/departments")...

That will work - or you can just use none - because the creator always has read and write access.

PERMIT read:none ON /photos

Hi Jai:

From what you have provided, I think what you are looking for is:

ff.getArrayFromUri("/Employee/(company eq 'xyz' and departments contains_any 'HR')")...

NoServer Questions and Answers / Re: DataBrowser Suggestion
« on: March 31, 2014, 07:34:59 PM »
Great suggestion! Will be working on the data browser again in the very near future and will put something together. In case you were not aware - you can download the databrowser code from http://system.fatfractal.com/console/ff/ext/Releases/Latest/FF_DATA_BROWSER in case you want to play around with it...

Yay!!

All thanks to Gary (gkc) - he did all the real work.

I am not 100% clear on the question, but I hope that I got it right that you are asking where to get the facebook_app_id...

You need to register your application with Facebook and they will give you an application ID and an application secret. You then need to replace facebook_app_id and facebook_app_secret in the Auth.js where you see...

auth.setScribeApiKey(FACEBOOK, "facebook_app_id");
auth.setScribeApiSecret(FACEBOOK, "facebook_app_secret");

Here is a guide on how to do that...

You may find this useful as well. It is an example of setting user information private, but creating a PublicProfile with a reference to the user that contains information that you want to allow others to see...

Source code:
https://github.com/FatFractal/fyi.managingusers

Running test (html5/JS - there is also an iOS version).

https://fyi.fatfractal.com/managingusers/

FFDL stuff:
https://github.com/FatFractal/fyi.managingusers/blob/master/ff-config/application.ffdl#L30-35

Code: [Select]
CREATE COLLECTION /FFUser OBJECTTYPE FFUser
PERMIT read:none write:none ON /FFUser
CREATE COLLECTION /PublicProfiles OBJECTTYPE PublicProfile
PERMIT read:loggedin write:none ON /PublicProfile
